Vintage Lambeth-Style Vanilla & Pistachio Layer Cake by Alyssa’s Kitchen

A show-stopping design with a nod to vintage charm, this two-tier cake from Alyssa’s Kitchen was created for Lauren & Cooper’s wedding at the Robertson Hotel in May 2025. Measuring 8 inches and 10 inches in double-height tiers, the cake featured layers of moist vanilla and pistachio-laden chocolate (PLC), with delicate meringue and pistachios nestled between the layers, adding texture and a delightful crunch to the indulgent buttercream filling.

Finished in smooth white buttercream, the design was adorned with intricate Lambeth-style piping—a style I absolutely love creating for its ornate detail and timeless appeal. Maraschino cherries decorated both tiers, bringing a playful pop of colour and a retro touch to this elegant centrepiece.

I first met Lauren & Cooper at the Robertson Hotel Wedding Expo in 2024, and it was a joy to bring their vision to life. The cake was such a hit on the day that the groom emailed me afterwards to share that not a single slice was left—guests kept coming back for more, especially of the pistachio chocolate tier.

This cake perfectly reflected Alyssa’s Kitchen’s dedication to crafting creations that are as delicious as they are beautiful, blending artistry, flavour, and personal touches to make every celebration unforgettable.

After 25 years in corporate and a significant life experience, I decided I’d follow my passion – making beautiful cakes and desserts and I'm loving it!

I’ve always loved entertaining and making things that not only taste delicious but also look beautiful. Being always the one asked to ‘bring dessert’ – I started experimenting and developed a passion for baking. I delight in seeing and hearing people are happy, enjoying eating all the things I created. The best compliment is being referred to as a ‘cake magician’! Whilst I had been cooking for many years inspired by my grandmother, I developed my Patisserie skills further by completing a certification with Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School, so I could deliver the best for my customers.
